The Australian Taxation Office has announced blanket lodgement deferrals for the 2018-19 tax year due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Put simply:

  • ATO will be applying an automatic lodgement and payment deferral for 2018-19 company income tax returns to 5 June
  • 2018-19 income tax returns for individuals, partnerships and trusts can be lodged by the 5 June concessional due date, as long as any payment liabilities are paid by this date
  • New date for SMSF 2018-19 annual returns will be 30 June 2020
  • The lodgement and due date for 2019-20 Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) annual returns has been automatically deferred to 25 June.
