Ready for a career move? Work at Maxim Business Advisors Newcastle

Choosing where to work isn’t just about the numbers—though a competitive salary certainly helps, and we offer that, too.

It’s about feeling valued, supported and motivated to grow. It’s about looking forward to coming into the office, working with a great team, and not feeling like your job is taking over your life or draining the life out of you.

This sense of job satisfaction combined with recognition, growth and work-life balance is something we’re big on. In fact, #LifeAtMaxim has now become one of our hashtags on socials. We truly believe we offer something special.

Here are some of the benefits our employees enjoy.

Flexible working and RDOs

We’re always happy to consider how we can structure work to better accommodate your needs while maintaining productivity.

This includes considering flexible hours within a set range (our core working hours), hybrid working (splitting your hours between the office and home), job sharing and part-time and reduced hours.

We also offer each of our employees a monthly rostered day off (RDO). Because who doesn’t like an extra day to do what you want with?

Modern East End office

Our office sits on the corner of King St and Watt St, right in the heart of Newcastle’s East End. It’s a pretty enviable location, if we’re honest.

We’ve got the Foreshore, Nobby’s, and Newcastle beach and baths on the doorstep for swims at lunch and before and after work, along with cafes, pubs and restaurants that we regularly take advantage of. There’s also easy parking and transport links, including the light rail.

Our office itself is light and spacious, with a large kitchen/social area. As we’re on the fourth floor, we’re also lucky enough to have our very own outdoor deck with ocean views!

You can grab coffee and pastry downstairs. Plus, there’s bike storage and showers (with complimentary towels) down at ground level if you ride to work or work out at lunch.

Fun, supportive culture

We like to think of ourselves as a great bunch of people to work with. We take our work seriously, but quality work can still be done with humour and camaraderie.

We do plenty of fun things as a team to build our friendships, communication skills and ability to work well together, but we also genuinely enjoy hanging out together.

Things we’ve done to date include lunches, Rippit Golf, movie night, meditation and ice baths, lawn bowls and group gym sessions.

In terms of support, our employees enjoy mentoring from our more senior staff in their roles, regular performance development reviews (PDR), coaching and one-to-one sessions.

Growth and career progression

Along with offering employees the opportunity to work alongside some of the best in the local industry, we’re committed to developing our people. Our internal systems and processes are built to support personal growth and career progression.

Our RISE career development roadmap helps you assess your current skills—based on your current role—and provides clear next steps to develop them. RISE stands for Reflect, Improve, Shine, and Excel.

These steps include work-related tasks as well as recommendations for books, TED Talks, courses, and podcasts to support your growth.

We love promoting from within, and we’ve seen team members progress from admin support to client service co-ordinator and senior accountant to manager.

Health and wellbeing

A happy, healthy team is a productive team. That’s why our office lifestyle, supportive culture, and fun social initiatives are designed to promote wellbeing.

We also provide healthy lunch options every day, with fresh ingredients for making salads and sandwiches. No excuses for not eating well!

In addition, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers free and confidential support for both personal and work-related issues.

This includes counselling, resources and support for everything from mental health to substance abuse and family conflicts.

We’re involved in various charity and local community work, including Meals from the Heart at Ronald McDonald  House, the Corporate Cook up at Got Ya Back Sister and the Samaritans and Soul Hub Christmas appeals.

We also support local sporting clubs that are important to our team members and their families.

Plus, we’re always open to new ideas, initiatives and projects to get behind.

Have we sold it to you?

So that’s life at Maxim in a nutshell. Have we sold it to you? Whether you’re a junior, mid-level or senior accountant or are looking for a support role, we offer a workplace that will look after you, not just pay the bills!
